Earlier this year I had posted about the birth of my 7G-grandmother in 1700 in Ellmendingen, Germany. Today we remember the death of her husband’s grandfather, Hans Peter Ratz, my 9G-grandfather. Hans was born in 1625, also in Ellmendingen, which lies in the northern Black Forest. He was the son of Hans and Elisabeth (Stengler) Ratz.
On 2 August 1653 in Ellmendingen, Hans Peter married Maria Obrecht. She had been born in 1622 in Ellmendingen and was the daughter of Hanns Obrecht. In 1655 Maria gave birth to a son, Hans Jacob Ratz in Dietenhausen. In 1677 Hans Jacob would marry Marie Jacobe Nolte, and this couple would have Johann Jacob Ratz, who later married Maria Barbara Beck, subject of my earlier post.
Maria (Obrecht) Ratz died on 17 June 1691 in Ellmendingen, and Hans Peter Ratz in Ellmendingen on 10 November 1692. That is all I know at this time about Hans Peter Ratz, but still we remember him on the 332nd anniversary of his death, and as always with genealogical pursuits, hope one day to know him more fully.
