Also here is the story of Rev. John Maxon's (husband to Judith Clarke) f
ather and grandfather. His father was John Maxon (married to Mary Moshe
) and his grandfather was Richard Maxon (married to a Rebecca ?).
Richard Maxon, a blacksmith, came to Boston on ship "Griffin" with reli
gious dissenter Anne Hutchinson in 1634. On June 25th 1642 he sold his p
operty (1 house 5 & 3/4 acres of land) to William Roulston but left, f
ollowing Anne Hutchinson to Long Isl., before receiving payment. Wife r
eceived payment, after he died, on 20 May 1644. He died in 1643 during t
he Pequot Wars. After attack on town (Pelham Bay L.I.?), Richard and hi
s family escaped by boat but Richard & Richard Jr. went back for suppli
es & were killed. Rebecca (preg.) and her dau. Rebecca made it back to R
hode Isl. in the small boat. Soon after a son John was born.
John was made a freeman in Westerly R.I. on October 29th, 1668. He was D
eputy to General Assembly in 1670, 1686, 1690, 1705. In 1678 he was Ove
seer of the Poor. On September 20th 1708 he was ordained to office of e
lder (pastor) of church in Westerly RI (now called First Hopkinson Seve
th Day Baptist Church of Ashway RI). He was married to Mary Mosher, da
ughter of Nicholas Mosher and Lydia Maxon. Nicholas owned almost 1/5th o
f Westerly Rhode Island at the time and he was also an ensign in King P
hilip's War.
If you need any birthdates or deathdates of those people just let me kn
ow.
Smiles,
Sarah

Tradition states Richard and his oldest son, Richard, died in an Indian a
ttack. This same raid was the one in which Ann Hutchinson and family w
ere killed.
